SHOTGUNS

Shotguns fire a shell of pellets over an area peppering a target. The area of the pellets is known as the pattern and the size of a shotguns pattern varies with the range of the target. These pattern sizes are covered in the combat section. Non-autoload shotguns fire only single shots, although they can fire repeatedly. The user feeds the rounds into the shotguns tube or on some models into a clip.

Autoshotguns use magazine clips so they can be fed ammo quicker as they are capable of single shots, bursts or firing on full auto. When on full auto each shot above the first has a -2 penalty as the shotgun walks and bucks wildly. Autoshotguns are signified by an "A" in the rof column of its profile.

All shotguns can fire both scatter and solid shells. Normal shells scatter over an area (see combat section) and do a D6 less damage per range category over short range. Solid shells do not spread out and hit only one hit location. Because of their increased mass they have a -2 AM and cause and extra D6 of damage. However, they are also less accurate, incurring a -1 hit penalty.
