Hunting and Sniping Rifles
High accuracy rifles are used mainly for sport and as snipers rifles. They have a low rate of fire and a small clip size (forty 5.56 rounds is just overkill on a hunting trip). Civilian rifles which have low rates of fire, typically bolt action loaders, are classed as sports weapons and you may get away with having one in your home or vehicle. One shot is enough as you don't get bullet proof deer.
Sniper rifles require a rating [25] streetwise roll to obtain. They are used in hostage situations where precise shot placement is vital. All of these rifles have standard x100 scope as well as slots for smartchipping and a cyberscope. Rifles with an "A" under their ROF are capable of bursts or full auto. Sniper rifles are not designed for assault purposes and if used as a battle rifle their accuracy bonuses are reduced by -4.
Laser sights and smart chipping are obvious enhancements while those with more money, often invest in a cyberscope. Cyberscopes can use cyberoptic options including telescope, anti-dazzle or IR. With these a skilled marksman could hit a target in near darkness at 400 metres. Yes, your referee will use these tactics- start worrying.

The most lethal of traditional autoloading weapons, assault rifles are straight off the battle fields. These weapons are not found in gun shops, they are stolen from the military or a looted from dead cops. Despite some gun "freedom", you cannot own an assault rifle, the authorities just don't want to risk it.
As well as the miliary and private mercenary companies using battle rifles, some corpcops use them instead of SMGs. In combat zones carrying a rifle is risky as it advertises your ability as a gunhead, hence the popularity of SMGs and bolters.
Assault rifles are capable of single shot, burst fire and full auto firing modes. They can be used as anti-vehicle weapons and with their high rate of fire they can spray a large area or a number of targets.
