Bolt Pistols
Bolt pistols fire long flechette rounds, or bolts, instead of standard bullets. The bolts piece armour more effectively than other slug throwers. Compared to other firearms, bolt weapons tend to have lower rates of fire. Bolters make a very characteristic "chatter" when firing. An armour piercing bolt round is less affected by armour than a normal autoloader round, thus AP bolter rounds are a popular choice. The bolt pistol can only fire single shots.

Autobolters
These are the bolter equivalent to autopistols, although they are not very common. They have double clips as standard and fall under weapon class C3. They can fire single shots, bursts or full auto.

Bolters
Bolters are the SMG version of bolt pistols as they can fire fully automatic and at high bullet velocities. They use a high calibre sabot type round and these are much more effective at piercing armour. This makes the bolter second in the top three of anti-armour weapons (the top being a gauss weapon). Bolters can fire singularly, in bursts or full auto.
