Although a couple of old cylinder pistols can still be found, the mass majority are now autoloaders. Ranging from 5mm to 14mm autoloader pistols are very common firearms throughout the world. Ammunition is now caseless too. With ceramic or plastic alloy frames they are much lighter and with the recent gun laws (or lack of them in some countries) everybody packs one. Pistols can fire multiple shots (although not in bursts like SMGs). All pistols can be carried legally if you have a class two weapon permit.

Autopistols, or machine pistols, are usually not much bigger than standard pistols and are capable of firing at much higher rates than a standard pistol. All use double clips as ammo capacity, or rather the lack of it, is a problem with high rate of fire weapons. They are capable of firing single shot, burst or on full auto.

Some have a folding stock to increase accuracy (with the stock folded they have a -1 to all range bonuses). Some people extend the stock and hang the gun off it under their arm so they only have to open their coat, raise and fire. Machine pistols are rarely fired on full auto as they become uncontrollable (-2 accuracy when on full auto) and many users stick to three round bursts. These firearms are "controlled weaponry" and require a class three permit to own legally.

Submachine guns, or autoguns, are the largest of the autoloader weapon family. They are single hand or shoulder fired and use similar calibre rounds to pistols. They are only a step away in size from assault rifles and the amount of damage they cause. They are favourites of terrorists, cops and street scum. SMGs are excellent for suppressive fire as their high rate of fire can spread over a large area stopping anyone from going through it or coming back out alive. SMGs are capable of single shot, burst fire or full auto.

NB: The F-C folding closes up into a featureless rectangular box (S size) which takes an action to unfold (size rating is L when unfolded) and the MP5SD has a built in sound suppressor.
